Sam Ion is the single best resource tool you can find on All Inclusives. She knows more about them than pretty well anyone on this planet. She is well known, well respected, and writes informatively, interestingly and irreverently. She keeps readers up-to-date on specific resorts and on all inclusives in general. She knows what to look for, and tells you how to best keep your clients informed. A ROYAL FAVOURITEAnd a towering success
28 MAR 2012: “I feel like Royalty,” said one guest to another as they loafed in the pool holding drinks in their hands. Exactly. Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort and Offshore Island did and does host Royals. All guests are treated like royalty in this 404 room and suite Luxury Included vacation property.
UNFORGETTABLEYou always remember the service
14 MAR 2012: Ten years ago, I spent a week following a small group of agents in Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. We stayed in three or four resorts during our trip, and did many site inspections.
RECOMMENDATIONSIf you know the product it all works out
29 FEB 2012: When you are around all-inclusive resorts you meet guests. Last May, we met a very nice couple from England, who come to Mexico, a week at a time, several times a year. I gave them my card when we checked out.
THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDERYou wonder at some people
15 FEB 2012: Eduardo Marran rushing across the lobby, the occupancy numbers, in his hands, and a big grin on his face is a lasting memory. Then again Eduardo, his wife and soul mate Rosie, have given me lots of memories over the years.
DESTINATION WEDDINGSAsk the experts
18 JAN 2012: I get mail, lots of it, but not much asking for advice on weddings, so other than having a wonderful Destination Wedding myself, I know little about them. You, of course deal with lots of weddings, so probably have heard the request over and over again, but it was new to me.
SOMETHING DIFFERENTAll inclusive in the English Caribbean
O4 JAN 2012:Have you got regular clients who have been everywhere, and know every four and five star chain from Sandals to Secrets, not to mention Karisma and Couples? They want something totally different, and are quite prepared to pay for it.
FOLLOW THAT DREAMThe courage to begin again
2I DEC 2011: Are you following your dream? Paula Miller is. Remember her? Paula, originally from Nova Scotia, ended up as a travel agent in London, Ontario. For over 11 years, she worked at Ruse Travel Services, Byron Swayze Travel, and Valentine Travel (now Merit).
CHRISTMAS LISTSWhat better gift to yourself
07 DEC 2011: You have clients on your list, who are just hanging on through Christmas. What they’re dreaming of is finding a week for two, adult’s only, under the tree. They even have room on their credit cards for the dream that is getting them through the season.
SOMETHING SPECIALTaking an interest
23 NOV 2011: Have you noticed this fall that wholesalers are all adding their own twist to their all-inclusive offerings? Sunquest for instance is having Special Interest Weeks, and two weeks ago I followed 145 of you to sample their Celebrity Chef Week at the Club Diamond in the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro.
POP UPTime to start selling Puerto Plata again
09 NOV 2011: Are you selling Puerto Plata this year? The north coast of the Dominican Republic is where Canadians first arrived to holiday in the 70’s and 80’s. The new resorts at the Playa Dorada complex and Jack Tar Village were THE place to go. Then newer destinations beckoned, and Puerto Plata was overlooked for a time. In the 90’s Hurricane George did a lot of damage to the infrastructure.
