15 SEP 2011: Sunwing Travel Group has announced the inception of “Blue Diamond Resorts”, a new wholly owned subsidiary which will manage and develop its own portfolio of destination resorts. Established to provide unique and differentiated products specifically tailored to North American vacationers, the new company will be headed by Fred Baker, who has over 30 years of experience of Hotel Management.
14 SEP 2011: "This is a clear message to Air Canada. Our members are determined to get a fair deal," said Jeff Taylor president of the Air Canada Component of CUPE, after flight attendants gave their union a massive strike mandate by voting 98% in favour of strike action. He pointed out however, that the vote did not necessarily mean a strike and that the union “want and still hope for a negotiated deal with the company.”

09 SEP 2011: It’s not enough that riots and government instability have decimated tourism to Egypt, the country’s Cabinet appears to have decided they really don’t want those camera toting, money spending travellers back. So, Egypt is changing its visa regulations, meaning visitors looking to catch a glimpse of the pyramids will no longer be able to get a visa upon arrival.
14 SEP 2011: Google is elevating the quality of its search results for airline tickets. The Internet search leader's revised approach to airfare queries appeared Tuesday in a newly opened ``flights'' section of Google.com. Initially it will only be available in certain US cities.
09 SEP 2011: The 43 year-old Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest bills itself as ``Canada's great Bavarian festival'' - an event that celebrates the region's German heritage with sausages, oompah music and a great deal of beer. Set for Oct. 7-15 it is one of the top 10 Oktoberfests outside of Germany.
14 SEP 2011: While many polls claimed travellers were unconcerned about flying on the anniversary of September 11, on the actual day flights from the UK to the US were almost empty. Though major airlines refused to divulge traveller figures for 'competitive reasons', passengers said flights were quiet.
09 SEP 2011: North Korea is getting into the cruise business. However, the concept is perhaps a little different – let’s just say they don’t exactly have the luxury bit down pat. In fact Korean authorities, looking to entice more tourists, said the cruise is designed for those who want “something different.” And they are as good as their word.
