10 NOV 2011: Americans have rediscovered Montreal. After a few years of declining tourism numbers from south of the border, the city saw a nearly 5 percent increase in US travellers as Americans, especially foodies and music lovers, are viewing it as a lower cost alternative to Europe.
10 NOV 2011 The less than catchy-titled Corporation for Travel Promotion, is now Brand USA Inc. and has launched Brand USA, the country’s first tourism marketing campaign, designed to attract more international visitors. The first ads are expected to be aired in the spring.

But here at the 6th annual Miami Media Reception hosted by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) evening soiree it was a throwback to some of these iconic 80s symbols.

14 NOV 2011: A jury last week convicted a Chinese passenger of murder after finding that he threw his wife off a cruise ship. Wang Weile claimed that he accidentally injured his wife while trying to keep her from committing suicide. When she lost consciousness, he thought that she was dead.
14 NOV 2011: When the Carnival Magic sailed into Galveston Harbour this weekend it made Texas cruising history. The 3,690-passenger Magic is the island’s largest year-round ship and it is a rare move by Carnival Cruise Lines to deploy a new vessel outside a Florida port.
14 NOV 2011: Windstar Cruises, which operates a fleet of three luxury sailing yachts unveils its expanded, 114-page 2012 Voyage Collection brochure which features 23 itineraries, new hotel and land packages, and details Windstar’s yachting experience. New savings and a $200 per person shipboard credit are available on voyages booked by December 31.
14 NOV 2011: An Orlando agent whose aunt succumbed to breast cancer is organizing a “Cruise for a Cure” and will donate all of his commissions to a national breast cancer fundraising group. Michael Schad is working with Royal Caribbean International to plan the three-night Bahamas cruise aboard the Monarch of the Seas, and hopes to raise upward of $20,000 for research and other support services for breast cancer victims.
