Valentine’s Day - a mile high experience
10 FEB 2009: It’s that time of year folks. Take flight. Romance is
literally in the air – in more ways than one. Private jet charter
company SwiftJet has introduced its ``Love is in the Air'' proposal
package, starting at $3,500 at cities across the country.
For that price, a pair of lovebirds gets a flight of about 30 - 45 minutes (in the case of Toronto, the flight departs from Pearson airport, goes north to the Muskoka region, then returns). Also included, champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries and red roses.
``If you want anything fancier we can get fancier,'' said Bassam Al-Sarraj, president of the Toronto-based company which began commercial service last October.
``If you want to go further, we can go further. If you want to go to a specific spot, we can do that.''
The Falcon-20 luxury jet has sofa-style seating for couples who want to cuddle.
Al-Sarraj said he expects that despite the weak economy, some romantic people will splurge on this option.
``Not everybody can afford it, granted. But somebody spending $50,000, $60,000 on a wedding, it's not really a big expense when you consider that.''
He also noted that if you choose to arrive at Pearson by limo, the vehicle can bring you right to the aircraft - and be waiting for you when you return.
